Default Beer Stein

I bought a "German-style" beer stein at the first reunion auction. The story was, that it was given to Don Yenko, from his daughter, while in Europe for races. She was said to have talked an un-willing Don into a road test demo of his race car and wound up in a slight accident damaging the race car slightly. She felt so badly that, she went shopping for a gift and something that would help her gain forgiveness from Don. It is a very decorative stein and I did get the Cert. of Authen. nearly a year after the auction. My questions are: Does anyone know the truth of this story? When daughter is mentioned, whatis her name? Only child? What year would this have been? I believe that a Corvair was the race car involved? Was Don or the daughter Driving? Anyone know some details? Thanks

could be LeMans 1973. They allowed the race cars to drive through town and Don banged up the Corvette race car he was supposed to drive. It was minor damage but caused the car to not be allowed in the race. I have Don’s folder on this incident including hotel and tourist info about France with French newspaper articles on the accident. I haven’t looked at this in awhile but from what I remember about this folder I assumed it was Don’s wife that was with him in the Corvette during the wreck.

Ok, many of your details have similarities to the sketchy story told at the auction. If you have more info., I would like to piece some details together. Thanks for the reply.
