I've been hunting everywhere I can think of to try and find some info on the Motion 'King Cobra' with no luck. All I have to go on is what little I remember from when I was a kid. Does anyone know of a lead I could check out? Any info would be greatly appreciated...I've been chasing this ghost for years!
Thanks,Ed

Well here it is in model form. One hell of a bad assed car! Where is it today?????
http://www.diecast.org/diecast98/htm.../reviewpix.htm (taken from another modeling web site): "All Hail the King!" Before rising to fame as the creative genius behind the Baldwin-Motion Chevrolets, Joel Rosen also knighted a couple of Shelby Cobras-a 289 and a 427, both of which held National records. When Carroll Shelby came out with the 427 Cobra, Rosen took it one step further and came up with the King Cobra. Right after building the King Cobra, Rosen drove 2 1/2 hours to the drag strip, changed plugs and slapped on a pair of slicks, and the King Cobra held court by cracking off a 10.27 ET, demolishing the previous record by a full two seconds! Few dared joust with the likes of the King Cobra"

Hey, have you checked with the Shelby Registry?? I would think they would have some idea of the ownership history of the car and if there is also a 289 car.

I don't think Joel owned the King Cobra but did race it. He owned the SB Dragon Snake that he said was one of 2 built by Shelby. He set a lot of records with that car in early 60s.
here is a pic of the Ertle with Motion post card of Dragon Snake and autographed time slip |

I do have the Ertl King Cobra-it's on top of the screen I'm looking at right now! I was hoping to find old pics or history/articles. Doesn't seem like there's much out there on this car.

Revell made a model kit of the King Cobra too. That's still one I need to pick up.

I did look around there a bit but then I tried the clubcobra site & someone there had pictures (then&now!) that they posted. The car still exists but is very mundane looking(and blue)with no hint of its past. I still would like to find some old mag articles on it.
