I have tried to reply to Kevin's Post on values but the reply icon is not working. Gee we discuss all kinds on "heavy topics" here on this board why not values?? This board brings people together with shared interest in cars.

If the value of a specific class of cars increases due to the interest of this group in a specific type of vehicle then that is simply the outcome of what happens when we get a group of people together that like something. Sooner someone will like something more than the next guy and so the value rises.

For driving up prices on anything clearly E-Bay is the king of price inflation.

The market will police itself.

A car's value is clearly what someone is willing to pay for it. It depends on the individual's situation and the specific car. That's why someone is always willing to pay a little more than everyone else. Whether it's the color, transmission, rear end, mileage or engine, a specific car will have a speciic buyer at that buyer's price. You can sit and complain that the car isn't worth that price, but it is to the buyer even if it isn't to you. No reason to complain about prices or compare different vehicles because each car and buyer have their own attraction. If supply is low and demand is high, prices will go up! If supply is high and demand is low, prices will drop. It's simple economics.

Great post. There is some twists to the current market, and in this example, appears to have nothing to do with this site at all. The example is the recent price paid for the Offy-equipped X-ram car at Barriett-Jackson. Two egos collided that day - on a car that (prior to the bidding) seemed to be worth considerably less. However on that day the bidders set the "market" on that car.

Reproducable price?

Only time will tell.

I agree this site has helped the value of the "Supercars", but given the price of rare Mopars they must have an even better site! Pontiacs site might be better as well. Obviously many factors have come together to push market prices to todays level not just all of us on this site.
