Default Need set of Goodyear Polyglas F70x14

I need a set of repro Polyglas F70x14 tires for my Z11 to use at an upcoming show. I would rather buy them used than spring for the new repros that I'll only use for a show or two. (I run on radials most of the time) If you have a set that you don't need anymore email me or PM me with your price. Or if you just want to rent them that would be great too Thanks, NJSteve at [email protected]

Your Z11 never had Polyglas tires on it. You need a Goodyear Wide Tread F70-14.

Hey Steve, I saw your Hemi at the shop tonight. I stopped in to talk to Rich and check out the progress on my JL8 restoration. Sweet car. Nice exhaust system, was that Mufflex that put it together for you?

There's an original pic of a '69 Z11 in Valerie Harrell's scrapbook wearing small lettered Firestone Wide Ovals. I'm pretty sure I even videotaped it at SCR3 since I found it to be pretty odd myself. These weren't the big letter 1970 type Wide Ovals they currently reproduce, but not the traditional Goodyear Wide Treads either. I remember the door decals being noticeably crooked on the car as well, and stuck right over top of the wheel well stripe. I'll see if I can track down the clip and link it here. Anyone else happen to remember the pic I'm referencing?

I'd love to find some of those small lettering Wide Oval RWL tires. They are what the original owner says came on my red COPO. Never seen any outside of books...

Jeff..I think I could email you a picture of one. It is the spare for my 69 Chevelle. It has never been on the ground. Has some handwritten 177 number on it. If you want a pic, let me know and I will try. Not too smart on the computer though.

It's worth a try, thanks! My email is in my profile; just take out the " deletethisfirst ".

Although, I'd rather have the tire than the picture!!

Some folks, like Charley, know this but (judging by the great number of 69 Camaros and Chevelles with Polyglas), many don't.

Fiberglass belted WHITE LETTERED tires were not an option for Camaros or Chevelles in 1969. There is only one tire currently reproduced that is correct for these 69s in RWL and that is the Goodyear Wide Tread. The Firestone Wide O Oval being reproduced is the 1970 fiberglass belted version and is incorrect on 69 Camaros and Chevelles. The 1969 smaller lettered Firestone is not FG belted.

Belted vs. non-belted was confusing even in 1969 as the Goodyear Polyglass Custom Wide Tread IS technically a wide tread, but the correct tire is white lettered "Wide Tread" only (no "Polyglas" in white letters). I have numerous contemporary 69 road tests that clearly show a Camaro or Chevelle with non-belted Wide Treads and the caption or text refers to them as Polyglas - an obvious error.

Note that fiberglass belted tires WERE available in 69 for the Camaros and Chevelles in red or white stripe (unbelted too).

So many nice, otherwise correct cars have the wrong tires on them. A case, I believe, of relying on other restored cars as a model and not doing the research. It has snowballed..............
