So, did anyone here go to Union Grove for the 1988 Musclecar Nats? If so, whose car is this:
I was thumbing through some new back issues of MCR, and saw this picture of a Fathom Green Yenko Chevelle leaving the line pretty hard. So, anyone know who it might be? |

Was it held at Great Lakes in Union Grove, WI? Try posting a question at their site and see if anyone bites.
http://www.greatlakesdragaway.com/ I have the issue but didn't attend...my mom didn't let me go on lengthy roadtrips in 10th grade. I had to live vicariously through the printed reports. -Mark Holman

Was Danny Mamson's Yenko Chevelle this color? If so then it could have been him or one of his two sons?

Rob,
Don't forget to mention how cool that silver 70 Dodge Charger looks behind it !! ![]() |

When I first saw Danny's Fathom Green Yenko Chevelle, in that era, it was painted black with no stripes. I don't believe it was his car. I had gone to see his beautiful Hugger Orange Yenko Camaro that was for sale at that time.

So, Casey, you mean to tell me you were actually lined up RIGHT BEHIND the car in question, yet you have no idea where the car was from or who owned it? GEE, THANKS!!
Could this have possibly been Cliff Ernst and his Chevelle (now residing with Holub)? The reason I ask is, I happened to see a picture of a Yenko Camaro taped to the wall in the auto mechanics class at our local high school, and when I checked it out further, it listed Cliff as the owner/driver, and that he was running 12.90s. The car had a set of slicks on it (it was hugger car), but was otherwise pretty stock looking...oh, this was in a late '80s issue of Hot Rod. [Edited by Chevy454 (02-25-2002 at 11:09 AM).] |

Rob,
It could very well have been Cliff Ernst. I remember the name from that *era* of Musclecar Nationals. Not sure if he had others at the time, but that name does ring a distinct bell. |
