Last year a friend of mine rented Gateway on
a Saturday, His cost was 600 dollars, the track time was from 8:30Am until 2:30Pm. He had a total of 20 cars on this rental. The track provided a partial crew, and an ambulance crew, The only draw back to this was having to go to the tower to pick up time slips. I also temember that Bill Moran had 2 rental's going on the same day. My friend did say he thought that some of the second group did not pay. So if you would decide to rent the track I guess it would be a good idea to get some kind of agreement that would make it exclusive for the for the reunion group. All the guy's that came with my friend kicked in on the rental and it was only 30 bucks per car that way. I hope this is helpful information, I wasn't sure were to post it. |

We have kicked around the idea of renting the track, and I would still like for dad to pursue it (if there seems to be enough interest).
Quick question for you: I am needing to get some test 'n' tune time in, and I noticed Gateway has it both on Wednesday and Friday nights. Which is the preferred night, being as I want to get as many runs as possible? Also, Memphis has their test 'n' tune on Thursday nights...but I've never ran at that track, and I am kind of "iffy" on whether I want to make the trip to Memphis...any experience with Memphis? |

I used to go on Wednesday night's a few
year's back. I always got plenty of time run's and they had a jackpot eliminator which was always good for a few more runs. Friday night's have jr dragster's and high school which might cut into test and tune time. |

I've found if you get there (at any track) BEFORE the gates open and are waiting inline, you can unload and get into the staging lanes and make several back to back passes before the lanes get crowded.
The key is just to get there early and have you act together. Atco, NJ opens at 5:30 on Friday nights. I'm at the gate by 5. I can usually get about 12 passes in before 6pm. From 6 to 11:30 I'll be lucky to get 5 more passes in. My key is a great crew that know what they're doing. HTH Paul Tholey |
