Factory black/black 67 RS/SS with a (gasp) sunroof
When I read the description and it mentioned a sunroof, I was picturing one of the many butcher jobs I have seen in the past. But someone did a really nice job on this one - it really blends into the vinyl top. This is actually a pretty good car otherwise - factory Tuxedo Black car with black deluxe, born-with 350 and 4-speed. I think I would leave it as-is and enjoy it, sunroof and all. Seller claims that the original owner told him that it was a GM show car and they contracted someone to install the sunroof. I would do everything I could to document that if it was my car.

----One of the preeminent sunroof companies in the world is in southeast Michigan, ASC American Sunroof Corporation! they have done huge amounts of work with all the OEM's. It's at least a possibility that this car was done by ASC for GM as a show car......Bill S

----No clue on that, Pete. On the negative side I would think that serial # would be way too late for opening day stuff. But also just maybe some Detroit area dealers were in contact with ASC and offered the option...Bill S

It does not rule out the possibility of GM supplying a Camaro to ASC to evaluate the possibility of offering it as a RPO. I believe the 67 Cougar production sunroof was done by ASC.

Certainly possible, especially if the '66 Toro' w/ ASC Sunroof was done for GM? It'd be great if any vehicle history to substantiate the story could be found but disassembling/examining Roof components may yield date clues etc to compare w/ Cougar parts and learn whether it's possible or not? Here's a link w/ some ASC History although 69/70 Chargers also others ASC did seem to be missing... https://www.ssrfanatic.com/threads/asc-timeline.203849/ ~ Pete .

I could live with the sunroof, but the cowl hood would have to go.

It's begging for a red interior. The sunroof apparently didn't scare off the bidders too much because it sold for $50500. |
