Default ET IV Wheels center caps question

I'm getting ready to clean up my ET IV wheels. I've always had plastic push in from the front style center caps. I wanted to go with more secure and metal push in from the rear type, so I picked up some original caps. They're 3.22" like they're supposed to be, but they seem to be a pretty tight fit. Anyone else running them that can tell me about their caps and how they fit? Maybe the push in from the front style wheels are different from the push in from the back style? Here is one of mine and a pic of my car with the wheels on it just before I started my resto.

Thanks.

Thanks Sam! She's almost back on the road. Here's where I'm at. Now that the nicer weather is back, I should be able to really start buttoning things up.
Unfortunately my new caps aren't going to work out for the ETs. I'll need to find some snap in from the front caps...

If they're that close, couldn't you get a machine shop to give the center holes a quick hone to open them up just a little and make the center caps work out?

I was going to do that, but unfortunately there is only about 1/16" of aluminum between the cap and the oval that holds the unilug washer.

Thanks. Born with L34 350hp/396. M21 and born with 3.31 rear end. I'm going to run the '72 402 you can see behind the car. It's the exact same 854 block. I want to bag and tuck away the born with motor. I'd puke if I put a rod through the original...

That's what I've been keeping my eyes open for. I can't see eBay right now, but what I want are something close to the style I posted here. I see a lot of the flatter ones. I don't care for those. I'll take a look at your link a little later. Thanks.

I just checked those out. They look like they would have been perfect. I'm a little gun shy with the sizes though. Those did look right. I have a search follow set up on eBay, so we'll see what happens.

Default ET IV Wheels center caps question

Would caps mounted from the exterior w/ screw tabs between the lug holes be a possible solution?
Of course you'd have to drill/tap the rims to mount 'em but may be the easiest way to get it done?
Here's a couple pics below if it works...good luck!

Thanks Pete. I was thinking about doing that at first, but I'm paranoid about not getting them perfectly centered. I'd be out of my mind if it looked like it was wobbling when the wheel was moving. It's definitely an option I'm considering though. Thanks.
