Hello, can anybody tell me when the four clip design was phased out in 1969 for 15x7 YH wheels?
Thanks Mike |

I don't believe they were.
Fast Eddie has a very late, original Z, so he should be able to tall you. If some of the late cars have the other style, I believe they were used interchangeably. I see lots of posts claiming GM discontinued using the four clip rings in 69 (supposedly there was some big lawsuit, but when pressed, no one can tell me where to find evidence of that lawsuit), but I believe they were still in use well into the 70's. I balanced wheels and aligned many Chevelles and Monte Carlos in the 70's and most of them had the four clip rings. I hated them, because half the time one of them ended up right where I wanted to place a wheel weight.

My 05A Z has 4 clip trim rings. I believe them to be original. I have owned the car since 1978, and it still has its orig YH wheels.

The 4 clip was used until about june. Most July cars had the second design.
