I want to find a set of wheels like the ones originally on my El Malo ex-race car. These are back in the day as raced pics. I think these are Chrome Slotted Steel wheels as opposed to Aluminum. Also, do they appear to be 14" or 15"? Would NHRA have allowed the car to run with 15" wheels in G/S? I'm just not positive of the size or style so I thought I'd ask for some expert opinions. The last pic is of a wheel that I got off the net, I think it may be the kind on El Malo.
Also, If anyone has a set of these for my car please contact me. Thanks, |

I think the original ones were called Astros. There were several imitators, including Mickey Thompson by the early 1970's. I think they were claimed to be lighter than stock steel wheels. Awesone mid to late 1960's look IMHO!
That old pic is priceless! |

Almost looks like 15s in front a 14s in the rear -- could be the angle. Many times the 15s were used up front to get the tallest tire available for drags ...

Here's a side shot. They really look the same front vs. rear. |

JC Penney sold A F/X steel slot wheels also. IIRC I have a picture of my uncle's 69 Torino GT with steel slots....not sure what brand they are though.
