Somewhere are threads discussing this ZL1. It is the red with red interior car. RK Motors used to have the clone for sale and claimed it had the orig engine for the real # 62 but they also had a McNeish report done on it and the report makes no mention of the Vin for # 62 or any claim that it is the orig. engine for 62. My question is where or when or who came up with the story that it was the orig. engine ? Anybody remember any details ?

![]() You've already read both links below? ~ Pete RK claims Jerry M. authenticated ZL1 #62's original engine is in the car here... http://www.rkmotorscharlotte.com/sal...-ZL1/132320#!/ Tricky wording in the description but here's the clone BJ auction listing. http://www.barrett-jackson.com/appli....1&aid=221

Yes and each time they say it is the orig. engine but what is there that makes it the orig. engine ? The report says 09694 on the front pad. That means nothing to me. What am I missing ?

Why does the letter say "Interior condition: Excellent, new reproduction BLACK standard bucket seat interior"?

![]() Oh sorry, you were looking for the truth. Seems like Jerry chose his words carefully noting the 09694 also referencing the engine as OEM and nothing about #62? Running a whole '69 Coupe VIN w/ the 09694 sequence and #'s 1 through 9 as the missing sixth digit both at the beginning and end of the sequence seems to lead nowhere? Strange enough, a 6 at the beginning of the 09694 ends up close to and only 4 digits off Mac's Chev ZL1 # 609690? Best ask Jerry or better yet the guy w/ the real #62 car and see where things ended up when he was considering purchasing the engine or clone car to get the supposed original #62 lump? From the RK site: <span style="font-weight: bold">"More recently, the foremost expert in the field has authenticated the engine as a real 1969 Camaro ZL1, not a replacement/warranty block".</span>
Clearly doesn't state which ZL-1. Also, reading Jerry's report, simply states the block was cast in 1969. "<span style="font-weight: bold">casting date 02-69, real ZL-1 engine</span>". I don't see anywhere IN THE REPORT that the engine came out of a Camaro, let alone which Camaro. Seeing as the car is being auctioned next week, isn't it available for inspection? Seems like someone could verify which (if any) partial vin is down by the oil filter. I would THINK the partial stamped on an aluminum block would be easier to read because of the softer metal and because it shouldn't be covered in orange paint. Wouldn't it be a kick in the pants to find a partial with an S instead of and N? It shouldn't be that difficult to solve the mystery. Anyone in Palm Beach?

I don't remember the exact year, I'm guessing it was 5 years ago or so. The car was at Mecum St. Charles and being repped by Hollywood Muscle cars. I remember the listing stating that it had the original engine belonging to ZL1 #62. When I inspected the car there was nothing I could see to definitively connect that engine with #62?
I believe the car was also at the following Mecum Kissimmee auction. |

FYI...The current owner of # 62 confirmed with Jerry that there was no vin stamped on the block in the clone car.
I'm still wondering if there is more info out there.
