Default Another WWII vet passes...

My sister-in-law's father just passed away last week. An amazing man. As a fourteen year old in Austria, he escaped from the Nazis and made his way to America where he joined the US Army and was sent to the Pacific Theatre as radio specialist in Burma. He came back after the war and became a famous photographer in New York City.

Steven Speilberg interviewed him as part of the Holocaust interview project several years ago.

Here is a link to a recent article on him in the New York Times when some whacko tried to sue him to recreate his wedding after he didnt like the photos, and long after his mail order bride left him.

And his obituary. Such a fine man, he was!

These guys are passing at a rapid pace and so many will never be told. A couple of years ago I went on the honor flight out of Cleveland to DC and listen to the stories of the WW2 vets was great, and sorry for your loss Chuck

..... He was part of "The Greatest Generation"

..... They went thru trials that we all take for granted.....

..... Here is an inspiring book you may want to check out that tells of these heroes.

" The Greatest generation Speaks" by Tom Brokaw
