Who is this man !

This is a pic from a dragrace in Sweden in 1976 i believe. I guess the photographer took the pic because this man was well known among dragracingpeople. Is he an American, or could he be English ? Any ideas ?

I think he is English, if it is from '76 he was part of the Funny car gang that came to Mantorp.

I have seen him before but don't know his name.
