Default Classic Auto Air, etc...new A/C systems

Was wondering if anyone out there has any expereience with any of the classic air systems that are being made for classic cars today?

The interior on my '69 Nova is near mint, so I really don't want to attempt to find an A/C dash pad, vents nice enough for an original A/C system. So...I was considering geting a new aftermarket under dash A/C system.

1) Has any of you used an under-dash system?
2) How effective are they in cooling down the interior?
3) Any company's system better than the next?
4) Looks like I'll spend a little over $1000 for one? Is this the average cost?

Not buying one right now, but I need to start saving for when it gets far too hot to have a non-A/C car in Phoenix.

Thanks.

You might want to check with Wayne Bushey at National Nostalgic Nova...he can probably answer your questions and help with choosing a good system.

Tom,

The shop I hang around in Gilbert does a lot of Vintage Air installs. There are a couple cars, 1st gen camaro and Firebird, there right now if you wanted to take a look. $1000 - 1200 for the system, pretty easy to install and works good.

Thanks Dave. I might have to do that. Been busy looking for work as of late, so haven't been on the boards much.
