Default Buick hood tach help needed ..

I bought this hood tach this year 1970 -72 GSX hood tach..Problem is it does not look like any of the ones i seen for sale repo or factory ...Note the red line (first i thought pontiac guts were swap in it )But they all say pontiac were RPM is and the red line starts in a different place . Looks like it has never been apart .Also has a locating pin unlike other's and vent holes .Anyone have any ideas ? Is it a early production part or service replacement ?Or ?????? Any help would be great ...

I just saw one like that on ebay unless this is the same tach. I too thought someone altered it. I have a NOS GSX tach in the box and its nothing like that. also thats not a locating pin. You pull that out of the vent hole just before installation and hook up the vent tube i believe.

Its a factory GTO hood tach..looks like someone put a buick sticker on it...

you cant tell its a GM piece because of the locating tab and the bottom bolts together, the repops are siliconed together..

the vent tube thing is a 71 thing i think..

I cant tell by the pic..is it black faced or blue? blue is 68
