WW!.
Is there anything showing it was an original Cheetah and not just a Conroy delivered car?. Does it have shoulder belts?. Also what's the status on bellhousing and engine originality?. If the original engine it'd be interesting to know what Conroy was using.. Do the GM Canada docs show the car shipped to Conroy as an L34?. ~ Pete

Wish I could answer Pete. I talked with George briefly and I *think* he said there is paperwork. Don't hold me to that. The alloy heads were added at a later date, but he wasn't sure when.

Re: '67 Beaumont Cheetah at SCR12
George traveled over 2,500 miles (alone) to attend SCR12 this year. When he called me Thursday afternoon, he said he was "running a bit behind" and asked if I would let TC know. At that point, he was entering Montana!
George said he has been trying to buy this car from the previous owner for about 20 years and just a month or so ago, he was finally able to purchase it. He says he has quite a bit of documentation and has known of the car for many years, as it has always been near his home. The car will be shown at the MCACN show and I am sure that George would love to tell the story of how he found it and eventually bought it and also all kinds of history on Conroy and the Cheetah cars that they produced. It is believed that 20 were produced in 67, with fewer converted in 68-9 due to the success of the newly redesigned GTO. BTW: George owns another 67 Cheetah, which is a 427 column shift automatic car, in complete but rough condition. Another reason to attend the MCACN show November 21-22! [/ QUOTE ] But not all Cheetahs were 427's as some were 396 cars (possibly a few SB's built too). Unlike Chevelles, L78's were not available in 66/67 Beaumonts and L34's the top o' the heap as an RPO.. ~ Pete -------------------- I like real cars best...the REAL real ones! |
