69 Nova currently wearing worn out 245 60R 15, it is too low (speedo reading 10%over) and a bit too wide, what do you suggest?
It is on a 8" ralley, I would like to get 7" TT's or S/S Cragar if Mike likes that. What will fill up the wheel well ? as always thanks in advance for the help. ![]() |

Depending on how easy it is, I would look to have the offset changed. On a 3rd gen Nova it seems like a 15x8 wheel wiht 5.5" backspacing will get the most tire within the wheel well (some fine tuning with a spacer seems to depend on the car). The other option is a 15x7 with 4.5", which seems to be much more common. This might give you the option to buy the correct wheel, rather than having them made.
If tall is all you want, then there really shouldn't be an issue. If you want that fat, L60 look, then it may require a little more commitment to the look. Things like relocating the shocks to the other side of the spring. Here is a decent thread, which I'm sure is popular on all of the Nova sites. http://www.stevesnovasite.com/forums...ad.php?t=44121 Stolen pic and specs: Here is 255/70/15 on a 15x7 weld pro star with 4.5" Back spacing ![]() Is Mike gonna be okay with the "de-tune" you'll be puttin on the car with the taller (wimper ratio) and heavier tires? |

I tried the 8 inch ralley route like you did and never got it down no matter what size of tire, shackles or spring combo I did with a real GM 8 inch ralley.
I second the 255 60 15 comment. I did them on a 70-72 Chev. 5 spoke and loved them on there. 235 60s up front look nice to but can rub if you like them low low. I went with 225 60 15 in the front to cut down on the rubbing on those same 5 spokes up front. I drove it 1-2 summers with the 235s and 6+ with the 225 before I tore it down for a frame off. 2.5 mand. bent exhaust from Hearthrob would look nice pointing out and down behind the back tires too on a street driver. |
