If anyone local is looking for a place to rebuild their vintage indash or underdash Delco radio or 8 tk tape player,I highly recommend AJR in Orland Park,Il.They install todays radios in todays vehicles, but have an old hand who knows what he's doing when it comes to the older Gm & Delco radio & 8tk players.Understand he DOES NOT cosmetically restore them on the outside,he'll only fix the internals to make them run like new again. He has all the parts as well as the skill and know how,and he lets the units run for days on his bench after he's done to insure their basically bullet proof.
Mott the Hoople never sounded so good. I was charged $120 total for a basic rebuild on each of my 1970 UM-2's and that comes with a 1 year warranty. He doesn't like to be told what's wrong with it before hand,(I handed him a list),as he goes through each one thoroughly & entirely and replaces all the belts, bulbs, gears, knobs & any electronic components that are shot,so they function as designed.4 weeks is the norm during the winter, but can usually do in half the time during the summer/fall. Very easy to get too as well,by phone or in person. AJR AUTO RADIO 15549 SOUTH 71ST CT. ORLAND PARK IL. 708-429-4114 Ask For Steve.. |

Does he work on non-GM units, like a Lear Jet brand? (optional Yenko catalog item!).

Most likely Yes,but he recommended you show him or because you're not local, call ahead of time to describe the model # you have. Some of them are more difficult to get parts for then others.
Al is the one who repairs them, and the GM/Delcos too. |
