Default Fake 70 T/A?

I ran into a nice couple today at a local car show that just bought a Texas 70 T/A Ram Air III car. They had an appraiser check out the car before purchase and have all the appropriate PHS docs that match the Vin#. However, two items peaked my curiosity.

The first is that the cowl plate was printed on black metal and not stamped, like my 71. The rivets were funny too but all the information on the plate matched the Vin#, paint code, etc.

The second thing is on the passenger subframe, next to the radiator support, was the full Vin# stamped in big letters. I've never seen that before.

I didn't want to scare the new owners by going, WTF!, since they were very proud of their blue/white T/A. What do you guys think?
