Default 1967 Z28 At The Dutch

Here are some photos taken last month of our new 67 Z race car at the Dutch. Only Tahoe turquoise w/ parchment interior known to exist at this time. Missed setting the NHRA record by .080. Went a best of 10.64 at 124 mph, record was 10.56. Not bad for the second outing. Once I break the code on hooking this car, should be able to get the record in the Spring.

no disrespect meant and j/k but if the car were a tad lighter in the front (Non RS style) I think you would have found the .060

Actually the Racepak data logger is telling me that the car is not hooking well and has too much clutch. D/Stick Camaros should be 1.41-1.45 in 60 foot. There are no RS motors in the front. We can take them off the car as long as the doors can be operated manually and the headlights work. This is more of a clutch management issue and dialing in the adjustable shocks. 60 fts as of late are in the high 1.40s and low 1.50s.

Having a staggered shock rear axle in the 68 and 69 cars is a big advantage.......trust me. The Strickler '68 Z28 was always in the mid 1.40s in 60 ft.

Jim,

Weight minimum is D/S is 3105 and I can put the car there if I want. It's all HP to weight ratios. Have been running the car a little heavy to help 50-50 the car. '67s are tough to get in the 50-50 weight zone. Car was 1345 lbs over the rear wheels last time we checked it on the scales.

a little birdie told me over 3 decades ago that all the fast cars back then had the engines moved back "slightly" and the front sub frames, suspension, etc parts "dipped" and the resulting weight loss was "put back" as lead shot in the rear of the lower rockers just in front of the rear wheels ... now WHY the tech inspectors never bothered to weigh anything but the WHOLE car is beyond my simple mind ...

yes, a very high profile Camaro drag racer from the East/North Detroit suburb area (at least in the early 70's) ... no names as he is still involved in the "sport"
