It's a school day and as usual, the teenage daughter is running late. With a two minutes to go until the bus arrives, she hands me this piece of paper and says: "Our assignment was to write what the Declaration of Independance is, and then one of our parents has to answer the same question."
The first paragraph is what she wrote. The second paragraph is what I wrote. (I can't wait to see what the teacher says.) ![]() ![]() |

The funny thing was that today was her open house day at school, so the wife and I visited one of her classes. And wouldn't you know it, it was that class she had the assignment for. The teacher had separated and taped all the responses on the blackboard. On the left side were the students' answers, and on the right were the parents'.
I seem to have been the only "Loyalist" (and/or comedian) in the crowd. ![]() Scarily enough though, not one of the parents got the answer right. ![]() I liked her teacher - an old school type, not one of those touchy-feely youngsters. Any parent that came in was required to take the same test that the kids were taking in class that day - that's probably why there were only 3 parents that showed up! Some of the questions on the test had characters in them from my youth. Anyone remember who "Miss Crabtree" was? I have a $ bet with the daughter on who gets the higher score. (BTW, can anyone loan me a few bucks? - she's currently got a 4.0 average) ![]() |

"Anyone remember who "Miss Crabtree" was?"
Jackie Cooper would have been singing "I'm Hot for Teacher" ![]()

I remember Miss Crabtree..
I always liked Miss Crump...or better yet, Miss Landers mmmmm!. I agree w/ what you said Steve.. Tough to say which way worked out better though as Canada is the example of how things go staying under the King's rule.. Hope you do well on the test (and didn't loose marks for the way you spelled hooligan)!. ![]() ~ Pete

[ QUOTE ]
Hope you do well on the test (and didn't loose marks for the way you spelled hooligan)!. ![]() ~ Pete [/ QUOTE ] Actually there Normy, The commonly used (at the time) 18th century French derivation would be spelled "houligan". Only the more recent English translated version of "hooligan" would be considered correct for the present century. I was merely attempting to "get into" the role of a proper British Loyalist of the time, and not that of a present day belligerently over-imbibing, British Soccer fan. -Cliff Clavin ![]() |
