Default 80 year old muscle

here is the sistership? 1928 Bugatti of a recently completed 10 year rebuild that is actually street driven. one of the winningest cars ever built ( won all of over 2000 races entered according to web). After waiting all summer I am planning on riding shot gun with video on monday morning ( the car is only driven in low traffic and moderate temp conditions because of no radiator) The owner/driver is 80 plus years old and has owned this car for almost 50 years.
( if you never here from me again you can assume things did not go well. there is just something about those cable brakes...)

Mr. Bugatti was quoted as saying that his cars were made to go fast, not to stop.
Try not to smile too much while filming, the bugs taste awful this time of the year.

this shot shows some of the high tech braking system. I believe there may be seperate controls for left and right in the rear to assist in making high speed turns (I hope we're not doing any of that!)

The pedal operates the front brakes?

The shifter is tighter than any brand new muncie spaghetti stick

Look , no fan. ( I mistakenly said it had no radiator )

Here is the power plant that spent almost 8 years touring machine shops of the northeast. When it came home and was installed it ran great but there was one small problem, the rebuild had created much more compression than the old starter could handle..

yep, the crank was just too much for Peter who had just turned 80.

so if you look back to the two upper shots you see some cylindrical aluminum bracket aft of the crank with the arrows on it. That was one of several attempts by more dedicated craftsman to mount an electric starter to the top of the gearbox. After almost three years and I lost track of how many tries, somewhere in Pennsylvania a man yelled EUREKA !

This is NOT a trailer queen or a show car. This is a race car that he drove on the street from when he got it in 1960 until he blew it up in the early 90's
