"R" represented a resistor type spark plug was being used. I believe this started on all the 69 models.

I know 68 Z/28 did not come with a resistor plug, but 69 did R43 as opposed to 43). I am assuming the same holds true across the board, but am sure I will be corrected if I am wrong.

When I restored my 67Z, I asked Macneish and he told me 1967 used the patent pending, no patent #, no R.

A couple of years ago I picked up an old ignition tester. It had a brand new "Patent Pending R" cap on it. I was told at the time that this was correct for a '69. I'm just taking someone's word on that though.

That's correct - the "Patent Pending" (no "R") cap is correct for '67, also on Corvettes. They've been bringing big bucks ($150-$400) for the last six months or so on eBay, but there is now a PERFECT licensed reproduction on the market (Zip, Paragon, and several others have it this week), which will drive the prices down on eBay.

What is the exact application for the 67 D309 non "R" cap? I have 2 NOS D308 non "R" caps that I should probably put on ebay if they are doing repos now. Thanks!
