Default Copo Question

My buddy was just looking at a 69 Yenko clone and he was telling me that basically the guy is the second owner of the car and put in a 427 435 vette motor, painted it up and put on the stripes, really not much else. Now the interesting part, he said its an O5E X11D80, has an M-22 (not sure if number matching yet, guy said its original),12 bolt, 456 gearing, original same deal. Big block heater. But no tach...could you get a Copo without a tach? Nothing could be more satisfying than to find a clone that was really real in the 1st place...

Tach was not standard. Sounds like something to check out more closely

[/ QUOTE ] I second that, my copo only came with a speedo and a fuel gauge no tach or gauge package. Hope it turns out to be real...

Tach was included with COPO 9737, along with the center fuel gauge and 140 speedo, starting in late May. My car is 05D and has the factory tach.
Unless I'm mistaken, all the late Yenko cars came with a factory tach, and most if not all non-9737 cars came without a tach.

9737 was the sports car copo # for suspension & speedo. U16 was the rpo# for center fuel gauge and tach. It became available around April. The two are not related.

While not related to the 9737 package, you are correct in saying that later Yenko cars were ordered with the U16 tach and center fuel gauge (non console) However...many non-Yenko delivered COPO 9737 cars could have been (and likely were) built without the U16 tach option, even after 05D.
