You need to check for the following for a 70 L78 Nova, I have one;
1, radiator support, needs to have the opening at 23", 4 core rad and should be bolted on to the support, rubber flap and small metal bracket over the center top of the rad. 2. Engine should slightly offset to the right (pass. side) The drivers side engine mount will be higher than the pass side. 3.If 4spd, crossmember will have one diagonal corner on the underside where the bolts go through for the tranny mount. The BB crossmember also tilts the driveline to the pass side silghtly 4.If it has a factory tach, redline must be 6k for the L78, 5500 for the L34. 5. if it still has the orig engine, should be code CKO for 4spd,not sure on auto cars 6. check for factory rear sway bar. 7. If it is L78, should have one 3/8 fuel line, no return line All SS Novas for 70 have Power Disk brakes. Good luck. Sully

I have viewed this car at Corvette Collection. I live about 5 minutes from their. I think I even have a pic of the trim tag. I am not sure if it is a real L78. The car is in just OK shape.

the trim tag wont denote a BB engine, only a V8, trim tag also will not denote SS either, paperwork would be key, but it is rare on the Novas, as most were ripped apart and raced early on, especially the BB cars.

Your Best bet is a Fisher Body buildsheet with the engine code and body number on it. Could have been in one or more of the seat springs. The right sheet may not have made it into the car. I am sure it probably been looked for already.
