This is a can't miss show for all you who live in the midwest. It is 350 miles from Mpls., and alot closer for those in Iowa, Wisc., Ill. and Mo. On the map LaHarpe is just across the river from Burlington, Iowa. Mrs. Helen Gibb, her daughters Connie and Nancy, and Herb Fox will be there. There is a Friday night cruise in Monmouth, 30 miles from LaHarpe, with 500+ cars, 1,000's of folks. Last year at LaHarpe, 380 cars were in the show, with more than the population of LaHarpe (pop. 1500) at the show. We expect 3 large tents for the SuperCars that will be attending. Some suprises are expected this year, along with all of Fred Gibb's Camaro racecars, the #1 ZL1, the 70 ZL1 and '67 Z28 "Little Hoss". This will be the first time they have all been together at the same time.
Do you know what it feels like to stand between 3 ZL1's when they are fired up with open headers? All I can say is be there, you will not want to miss it. |

Western Illinois University is my alma mater and I would drive through Monmouth on a regular basis going to and from School.
If I recall correctly Monmouth is approx. a three hour drive from the Western Suburbs of Chicago. |

That was almost two decades ago, I don't remember and would have to look it up. Is the Chevelle up for a road trip?

We have been to Monmoth the last two years, and it's one of the most enjoyable places we've ever been. People in charge are very friendly, neat old brick buildings, town square, live band, and hundreds of cars. Think this may be the first time out for the Little Rock deuce. Then, weather permiting, on to Laharpe the next day. You get a police escort from Monmoth almost all the way to Laharpe. If you can make it BE THERE.

How many of you are going to be at LaHarpe this Saturday? Hope to have enough room under 3 tents for SuperCars.

Ken,
I will have the 396 Gibb Harrell COPO Nova at Monmouth and LaHarpe. If my wife agrees to pull the second trailer, (by herself), she will bring the 427 Harrell car on Saturday. I have also heard Chevy Rumble magazine will be in LaHarpe and possibly two diecast manufacturer's. Can you elaborate? See you Friday PM. Dennis |

Dennis, Steve Albert told me that Chevy Rumble is supposed to be there. Early on there was talk of the new ZL1 cars,2 I believe, showing up early for the Laharp show, but have'nt heard anything lately. Heard Carl Stuber is going to be interviewed on the local radio station Friday morning.
To 68 top stock, 3 deuces I know are comeing, Belk, Cronkleton, and me. Hope you got enough tent room. Talked to your old buddy Rodger Davis, say he'll try to get down. Ken |

Doug Marion, former editor of Super Chevy will be there for the new mag Chevy Rumble, John Dianna (former HR editor) runs this mag. Doug grew up in Iowa, visited Gibb Chevy many times in his youth, now wants to return the favor with some articles about the cars that will be there. See the above attachment from the April 02 issue.
Eric Trapp, of Lane Collectibles, the designer of the new "Little Hoss" model will be visiting the LaHarpe show, and my friend Stever Roeder, of Super Car Toys may be there. Helen and Herb can't wait to meet Eric. Its been a little bit like back 30 years ago, with the new found interest in the Gibb cars with the models. There are currently 3 on the market. Less than 48 hours before I pack up and head to LaHarpe. When I drive there, its just like going home. This is a great hometown atmosphere, with lots of friendly people. |
