'62 Day-2

Not all Day-2 mods were stuff you could buy at a speed shop. Some mods were just "changes" based on the owner's inspiration and his idea of what he wanted his car to look like.
Cutting down an original grille and adding it in place of the original license valance made a unique look. Maybe ahead of it's time since Chevy's stylists did that in '65.


Notice the emblem on the hood. The plastic insert was painted Nassau Blue to match the car. This pic was taken as soon as the car was brought home, before it got a bath.


He did the same thing to the rear trunk emblem


As far as the interior, he molded his own custom aluminum pedal plates. A little wood grain on the dash and he moved the tach from the column up under the top of the dash. He made brackets for it to use an existing instrument cluster screw from underneath(no new holes).


His mods to the engine compartment included the little chrome air cleaners (which came with the car), separate fuel lines with glass filters, '63 chrome valve covers, chrome generator cover, exhaust manifolds painted white, and of course, he had to put the Crower decal on the firewall after he installed the Super Stock Crower cam.

Of course, he needed gauges to keep an eye on the engine health.


He never installed a Hurst or headers or traction bars but he did upgrade to these 15x7 early ET mags. He took this picture of the car at an Englishtown show.


I think I'm going to leave everything pretty much the way he had it.
