i recently acquired some nos 69 camaro parts - and one of the parts is an nos hood insulation.
The box sticker has the remains of a number and im trying to determine if it is really a 69 hood pad . Does anyone have the orig GM hood pad numbers available pls? I asssume the flat hood, ss hood and cowl hood all have different numbers? Thanks in advance...

I was told that that was a sample from the vendor for an engineering change in 1969.

I called the guy that has the sample this morning. When I got it with some artifacts it was a curiosity more than anything. Looking at the sample in the photo it does does look like a knock-out from an underhood light design that made it to the second gen car so I mentioned that when I spoke to him today.
He could not recall the details fully but he was of the opinion that it was likely submitted in 1969 for the 1970 model year but not accepted for carry-over production as they stayed with the previous vendor and hood design. I am pretty sure Johns-Manville was the vendor for 1970 forward too so what he told me seems accurate. |
