One of the other hats I wear is as a Vehicle Selection Committee member for the annual Eyes on Design show in Grosse Pointe, MI.
This is a very prestigious Invitation Only Concours style event that takes place on the grounds of the Edsel & Eleanor Ford Estate. It is a beautiful setting and an excellent cause, as all proceeds go to the Detroit Institure of Opthamology. I handle several classes including the Tuner category, a Rods & Customs category and this year I am working with Jon Grasso on the Muscle Car category. I am searching for several specific cars, as we are focusing on the Design Evolution that will show drastic design changes for various Muscle Cars. I am in need of a 64/65 Buick G.S. which will be displayed next to a 1970, a 1964/65 442, which will be next to a 1970 W30 442 and also a 1964 GTO to go beside a '68 GTO. We have some great cars lined up and you will be among some fine automobiles ranging from Vintage full classics to Exotics to modern day Tuners. If you own or know of one of these cars and would like to be a part of a fantastic event, please let me know. THANKS! [email protected] Bashton MCACN Managing Member |

This year Stefano and Beth will be joining us in our Tuner category with a Gen 5 Nickey Camaro and John Tinberg will be in our Rod & Custom class with his '55 straight-axle Nickey Tribute Bel Air. The show takes place June 20th, which is Fathers Day and it is a definite must see for anyone who appreciates great cars and some amazing variety. www.eyesondesigncarshow.com Bashton MCACN Managing Member |

I have always heard great things about this show and would love to be apart of it one day. I was just accepted into the Greenfield Village Motor Muster Car Show which is the same weekend as this show. Hopefully one day I will be able to do this show since its right down Jefferson Ave for me.

Absolutely!
This year I will be overseeing four categories and also several special displays. In addition to the "History of the Muscle Car 1960-1973", I will also be hosting a Dealer Supercars display. I am happy to announce several sYc Mmembers have agreed to join us, including the Clary family with both the 1969 Yenko 427 Nova and Robs' 69 sYc 427 Camaro and also The Hassetts' with their awesome L88 Baldwin-Motion Camaro. If you would like to be a part of the show this year, please let me know. In addition to the Muscle Car and Supercars displays I also oversee the Tuner category, with everything from a 1974 modified Mini on up to a 2011 Nickey Camaro to another called "Stock to Rock" which will place a stock vehicle beside a matching modified car. This class will start at 1928 with a real-deal packed away in a barn since 1960 Ford Murray bodied Sedan next to a highly modified and very slammed '29 Ford, on up to the wild 1959 Imperial "Speedster" that was premiered at a large Detroit hot rod show which will be shown next to a totally stock 1959 Imperial 4-door sedan. We will also have a featured Boss Mustang display with a Boss 302, the Shelby Boss 302 and Rick Campbells Boss 429. I am hoping to find a Boss 351 for this one also. This is a great show, whether you are a participant or a spectator, so c'mon out on Fathers Day, June 19 to see an outstanding design oriented show in a beautiful setting with everything from full classics to exotics to some awesome muscle. www.eyesondesigncarshow.com for more info THANKS! Bob A. - I really like the notion of "design evolution" for muscle cars. Great idea to have an early version i.e '64 GTO compared to a '68. Putting these two side by side really introduces a novel idea and provides a challenge for the audience to compare early vs. more mature technology in a given muscle car model. Any chance we'll see it at MCACN this fall?

Funny you should say this, Sam. That is exactly what I did last year for the Muscle Car category at Eyes. I paired up GTO's, AMC Javelins, Chevelles, Chargers and several others. This year, I am basically covering a longer year-span with single representations of each car. We are, however, hosting another category that spans major design changes side by side for cars of the 50's, 60's and 70's. Doing a side by side design evolution comparison for MCACN is a great idea and one I need to take a close look at. What do you guys think? Anyone ready to "pair up" with someone else to kick this off? Bashton MCACN Managing Member |
