Default Classics and Chrome Car Show - Rockford, IL

Annual fundraising event that has turned into a pretty decent car show. Please excuse the camera phone quality I but did not expect to see anything worth sharing here - but was surprised.

Original owner L78-4 speed Nova. Bought at Bud Weiser (no joke - still in business) Chevrolet in Beloit, WI. Green with gold bench seat interior.

Unusual color (grey) GT500

Nice pictures Jake, thanks for posting them. Karen & I were there Sunday. That L78 Nova has a great story. His name is Doug but they call him "Gunner". He bought the car new. At one point he had to take it back to Bud Weiser Chevrolet due do a engine problem. The head mechanic told him that there was a sand hole crack in the head, the motor overheated and ruined the block. They had to have a representative come to the dealership and inspect the block/head before the warranty would go through. Gunner eventually received a CE block and one new head.

I have additional pictures of the barn find Z28 and VIN.

Thanks Kurt - I got there about 2:00 right before they closed - my plan was to make a quick walk through while my son was at baseball practice down the street.

I heard the same story from the L78 owner as well - neat guy, says he has all of the smog stuff minus one tube.

This show keeps getting bigger and better every year. I think they said they were up to 130 cars this year.

or how to take a great design and make it look like a 68 ....

Maybe the original buyer of this car REALLY wanted a 68 and had to "settle" for a 69 so he makes it LOOK like a 68 from the side by hacking all the fenders ...
