Default What finish is this?

I have some minor bubbling on the base pivot portion of my wiper arms. It appears that the wiper arms are satin stainless and the base pivot has a different metal plating finish of some sort. Does anyone know what this finish is (see green arrows) and the recommended restoration process? If it is required to remove the arm from the base pivot to recoat the base are the rivets (see pink arrows) that attach the base to the wiper arm available?

Thanks

They always look like a different color when I look at them too. Maybe a different type of metal? I think the heads are cast. I don't believe they are that hard to get. Not worth doing alot of work on them in my opinion. Besides, the ones you have look about right from here.

I would bet they are just some paint process Sam. Whatever it is it seems to be alittle tougher that lacquer...only the vendor would know, maybe a baked on paint finish.
I have painted them before, never took the rivets out.

It reminds me of the paint on Impala convertible top latches. I couldn't find a proper alternative and ended up just cleaning them up and putting them on. The applicaton process definitely looks different than spray on.

I have gone back and forth on whether they are painted. But it is tuffer than paint so I am thinking it is some sort of plating process. Paint would wear at the hinge area and there is no wear in that area. Thanks for yr thots - keep em coming.

They are cast pot metal and probably plated over rough finish or maybe anodized.

Sam
I just played with a couple I have, tried to soften the finish W/MEK, would not touch it, took some scotch bright to it and would not even scratch.
I agree, there plated/anodized ??
