L78 Engine is back in!
This past week I dropped the engine back into my L78 and got it running yesterday. I'm going in teh opposite direction as Darren, I am taking off the TCS and exhaust manifolds in favor of headers. For cam break-in we installed the original exhaust but left the AIR tubes disconnected. Here are a couple of progress pics, some of you may recognize my friend James in the "muscle" tee shirt. The guy driving the fork lift is my good friend Don, we did the re-install in his home shop.
The engine pulls real strong and the car runs great with a fresh engine and M20 transmission. There is still some work to do; for some reason the carb will randomly flood out at idle. Some of the wiring needs to be finalized, and yes the vacuum advance tube is "way" too long. Valves will need a final "hot" adjustment before we leave for the Penticton, BC car show in a couple weeks! The headers won't go on until after that trip.
