Default 1968 Cougar GT-E a 7Litre Beast

These cars have always intrigued me, and a 427-side oiler is the cat's meow. ( pun intended!)

I've owned 3 67/68 cougars and entered a show maybe 30 years ago. While looking through a vendor's table, he had probably this same magazine and article which I started reading and commented I'd never heard of such a beast.....when rolling through the entrance was the exact car. A '68 427 GT-E with the distinct front grill, snorkel and loaded with every option but the sun-roof. I think the owner said that option never was available with the GT-E, but he was in search of it anyway and would hack his roof when he found it.
The engine bay is very impressive.
Noticed the mag. car doesn't have the rear flank reflector???

Here's one for sale on ebay, VIN 8F93W549318 . Dealer is asking $131K OBO. I like the looks of these but wish they would have made the 4-speed manual trans available. There was a nice one at MCACN a couple of years back.

The XR7-G in 1968 had the same fake hood scoop as the GT-E but used the standard grille with a unique emblem in it. It had factory installed hood pins and driving lights as well.
