1971 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe LT-1 NCRS Top Flight 2024

This 1971 Corvette was produced on November 25th, 1970. Mr. Doyle Patton (original owner) took delivery on February 5th, 1971 from VV Cooke of Louisville, KY. Mr. Patton was a GM employee. Doyle is reported having worked with GM Engineering, including the ZL1 engine project. Mr. Patton was also a noted drag racer, campaigning a ZL1 powered Corvette in NHRA Modified Production. This particular car you see here, served as Doyle's promotional tow car for a period of time. Doyle (and his cars) are recognized in the Kentucky Motorsports Hall of Fame. Doyle maintained ownership of this LT-1 through his passing in 2014. It was later purchased from Doyle's estate in 2016 by Doyle's friend Paul. Paul later sold the car to Jonathon Herrick of St. Louis, MO. Jonathon is the owner of Corvette Validation Services and the Corvette L89 Registry,

The car is a largely original and unrestored car, still retaining it's original mechanical components including
-Original born with CGZ coded 350 LT-1 engine (CCAS Affirmation / Al Grenning)
-Original born with M20 wide ratio 4 speed transmission
-Original born with 3.55 positraction rear differential
-Original carb, alternator, starter, distributor, ignition coil, smog, and many other original dated components.

The car retains it's original body panels, most original paint, great detectable factory seams, hood stripe, seats, carpets, door panels, dash pad, chassis finishes, etc., etc.

The car retains it's original jack, jack handle, floor mats, seat belts, smog system, shifter, air cleaner, seat shims / bag, hoses / hose clamps, body panels, interior components, and correct T3 headlamp bulbs. Problematic items such as the vacuum headlights, wiper door, fiber optics, gauges, and clock all work as new.

The car is well sorted. It will give it's next owner many years of pleasurable miles. The car is a serious contender, if the next owner would like to pursue NCRS, Bloomington Gold, and MCACN judging. I'll also take a moment to note about the judging on the car. As mentioned, the car judged at 97.1% this year at the NCRS Illinois Chapter meet. In that event, the car received deductions for some operational issues including.....

-inop clock (12 pts)
-bad drivers side door spring (12 pts)
-inop windshield washers (25pts)
-inop lighter and courtesy light in the lighter (25 pts)

Applying some simple math, that is 74 points. If one were to add the 74 points back into the judging equation, would bring the judging to 98.6%. When one keeps in mind this is a largely original car (which takes some condition points all throughout the process) this is a VERY strong and authentic car.
