I think it has been said a number of times in this thread that your car is currently the earliest "KNOWN" car next to Grumpy's. Another car with an earlier VIN could show up tomorrow, but no one knows.

You've got a great car, so I'd stop worrying about whether it is the first, second or third "sold to the public". I don't think anyone really puts that much emphasis on it. My old red 4P L78 is the next known car to yours. Unless it was the first built or Grumpy's car, it wouldn't matter to me if it was the next, second or third. I'd just be happy that I had a cool 4P L78 with the original motor In your case, I'd be thrilled to have original paint

... Thanks and I do agree.
I am keeping this car "as found" and am not going to put license plates on it to drive.
There is alot of Homemade things under the car that made it go faster and stop quicker. I am keeping those on the car and just cleaning up the underside.
I was told that this "could be" The first "known" car that was ORDERED and DELIVERED to a Dealership.
... That, to me, would be of interest.
... and may not interest others.
Just trying to figure out all that I can about this car.
... I thought that this would be the place to ask these questions.
... I am sure that others may show up too !

... I always appreciate your input as you have followed these cars alot closer then I have.
... Thanks again.

I would do the same if I were you. I would build a period correct motor for it and get it running and driving. Then I'd get it out there for others to appreciate! You wouldn't be lying to say that it is the first known '67 L78 sold to the public on a nice sign board.

I appreciate that you are working hard to uncover its history. That was always the most fun part of the old car hobby to me.
