My '70 SS has its original Wide Oval spare and SS wheel in the trunk. Tire and wheel have been driven on... maybe a thousand or 2 miles.Name: 449528606_2677614712412828_2957790465386957697_n.jpg

Wheel code AO?
Note your tread is like the one in post 1.
Not like the 1969 type.

Do not recall seeing the 1969 type on anything but YA wheels.

Wheel- tire that started this thread is what I would call 1970 type.

Super easy to tell on Goodyear Speedway Wide Tread tires.
67 type has "NF NYLON" and no DOT.
68 type has "LOAD RANGE B" with DOT.
Repops are 68 type.

Got really familiar with this difference in 1990.
Put a set of 5 F70X14 redlines together for a nice original 67 Chevelle SS396.
Had it's new condition spare on a DG wheel so I matched the other 4 to it.

The "load range B" type was way more common.
Not really sure about exact dates of change but the tires I bought were all spare tires from other 67's.
68's had the load range B type.

Could be overlaps of course but that is what I encountered.

Interesting that yours has three zeros to start the DOT like hers.
Her car is a third week of Feb Baltimore car. Not really an early one. All 5 wheels are dated 1 6 9 and YA marked.

Does your tire show the ink between treads like hers?

The tire that started this thread would sure look nice in the trunk of a 70!!!!! Shame about the trim ring scratches though.

Default hemi mopar folks

You would get the 68- 69 Hemi Mopar crowd very excited with this tire. Perfect trunk tire.
66- 67 came with 7.75x14.

When I said tread design,I was comparing yours to this original redline Firestone tire I've had in storage that shows 8 tread valleys.I always thought it was an original Firestone F70-14 RWL up there, but could only see it's tread design and nothing else.Untill I removed it this weekend and see now it's really an F70-15 Firestone Bias-ply Redline tire, not a 14" RWL at all.
Sorry about that, and you have a very nice find that I wouldn't mind owning.
This it what I was comparing yours to.
