I bought a 427/335 Chevrolet engine from Andover Auto Parts in Andover, MN in 1981 and it is still owned by a friend of mine in Cedar, MN. I had found the car in the junk yard and inquired about the engine. He led me to the engine shack where it as well as many other engines were on pallets. I paid $400 for it which was a LOT of money in 1981, back when you could buy a whole car for that. Sitting right next to it was a 427 SOHC that had been removed from a dirt track car, a Torino which was also in yard. They wanted $2500 for that engine. Needless to say, I laughed very loudly and said good luck! I guess he had the last laugh. Coincidently, this was also the yard that had the red Z16 front clip laying in the yard which I have discussed on here before. Many of you on this site know of this yard and how full of muscle cars it was in the 70's and 80's.
