Officers seize $2 million in stolen classic cars, parts, authorities say
Quote:
Law officers Wednesday seized about $2 million in stolen classic cars and auto parts stashed in San Leon and Texas City, Galveston County Sheriff’s Office Maj. Ray Nolen said Friday.
Richard Thomas Finley, 48, who investigators assert operated a business named Classic American Street Rods, was charged with theft of property and held on $200,000 bond, Nolen said.
Investigators seized 24 classic vehicles and numerous vehicle parts authorities valued at $2 million, Nolen said.
“People would bring him these classic cars to have them restored,” Nolen said. “Instead of restoring the cars, he would just move them out.”
Investigators expect to recover more cars, Nolen said.
Classic American Street Rods ceased doing business in 2022, he said.
The investigation is ongoing, and once completed a list of vehicles will be made available, Nolen said.
