There are good reasons why the Opel GT resembled a miniature version of the 1968 Corvette. Opel was owned by GM at the time and GTs were sold through Buick dealerships. The original design management teams for the GT have their roots in the development of the Mako Shark concept car which would later become the 1968 Corvette. Hence the similarities.
