PER the NCRS normal practice was the foundries swapped castings periodically to ensure that the castings from both foundries could be machined in either location...
This is noted in the judging guides for different years of corvettes... and I have recently been educated through this and the fact that my brother's VERY original 35k mile L82 corvette, has a Tonowanda cast block 014, but machined and built at FLINT - (front cam oil galley plug was unique feature of Flint's machining which Tonawanda machined blocks did not have)
