It's supposed to last at least 80,000 miles. No thin rubber sidewall cover will last anywheres near that long. Plus you want the tire to evacuate anything that gets caught in the webs quickly and easily.

Really don’t know why you are defending an absolute ugly tire design so much. I guess you have some skin in the game. Bottom line they are ugly as sin snd a rubber sidewall would indeed last 80k miles. There is no wear on the sidewalls
