Default Re: Looking for information on YS8008 "Raffle Car"

Does Classic Industries still own the car?
Are you saying they lost the paperwork on it?

They ran a raffle but said the winner took cash and they kept the car.

I have some info in my notes with copies of the Classic industries ad and a magazine article on it.

They called it the "One and only on the planet Sweepstakes" with grand prize
"1968 Yenko SC 427 #8008 COPO Camaro 9737/1001 top secret factory documents reveal this 1968 Yenko Camaro is a 427 COPO Factory Super/Stock prototype"

They had the POP, a broadcast sheet and a COPO order form.
The POP shows the special MV engine code L78 and they had paper work showing "CONV L78 COPO F BODY COPO 9737 1001 HA". They concluded that this means it was a factory 427 conversion.

They didn't realize that the "CONV" was for the COPO 9737 Yenko Sportscars conversion and the 1001HA is for special paint.
The car has no paint code (dash dash trim tag) and was said to be stripe delete and Yenko added a 1967 Camaro nose stripe to the car.
The special paint number 1001HA is listed with the COPO number ( this is also done on special paint Yenko Chevelle paperwork)

So with the special engine code (used with all the 1968 COPO 9737s) and the special paint 1001HA and the COPO 9737 on the COPO paperwork, they concluded it is a "427 COPO Factory Super/Stock prototype"
