Have you tried removing plug wires one by one w/ engine running as no power stroke sometimes changes noises helping indicate which cylinder may be the trouble maker?
Also, running the engine for a minute w/ belts off can remove belts/spinning parts from the possible culprit list also makes things quieter for listening...w/ an old piece of garden or heater hose.
No idea what trans you have but loose bellhousing or converter bolts can sometimes cause ticking also cracked flexplates too.
