Are you talking about the stripes wrapping around the leading edge of the front header panel?
Usually about a 3/16 +/- is blown under the edge with most painters passing along the front edge. I don't think factory header panels were much different and likely varied as Sam stated. Once the grill stiffener is in you can't see beyond 1/4" or so. Mine ended just before the grill stiffener when looking from underneath and I think this was normal practice.
