Any attempt to 'patch' rust will destroy the cars' originality. Replacing the rusty dash top with the poor repro is always detectable and requires removing the VIN tag. Breeching the original installation can result in a state-assigned VIN label with corresponding decrease in value.

Best plan for this car is to re-install all the original components, clean it up and get it running. Do not ruin the car with a 'cowl' hood and spoilers.

At a show, it will be the Z/28 with a crowd around it, admiring the originality.
