If you carry the compression, retarding the camshaft from the stock 6 degrees advance to 1-2 advance really makes the top end work.

Thing with the LS6 is, the intake SUCKS...on our L72 we've got the IVC pushed back 5.5 degrees but our 163 is 1" taller, so there isn't the bottleneck as with the 569...so maybe it can't take as much retarding as L78/L72 can? Something else is the 27 extra cubes, which effectively make the cam smaller...which is going the opposite way. Just some oddities I suppose, but it would be fun to play with on a dyno...
