Excellent story. I had the pleasure of meeting Gen. Paul Tibbets about 6 years ago at the local air show. Had a chance to chat with him for a few minutes and he signed a B29 print.
My last time through Hickam about 10 years ago, several of the original buildings still have bullet holes in them from the attack.
These guys won't be around much longer. Real heroes in my mind.
