Reminds me of the FAM bombs tested in the '70s.
First release a cloud of flamable gas, wait a second, and detonate the BIG explosive which ignites the gas cloud, causing a near nuclear shock wave that does more damage than the the second explosion. Often called the "Daisy Cutter", it made an instant LZ (landing zone) for airborne troops.
Now we have the MOAB, the mother of all bombs.
