If it's a fresh rebuild, the prep is mostly done when its tanked to clean metal. Otherwise, its tedious work to prep an engine. A lot of cleaning and scuffing in all the nooks/crannies.

We paint engines with pretty much the same process you would use for the outside of the car, and with the same products. Epoxy/etch, sealer/primer, BC/CC (sometimes single stage) with SW product.

Dont know the exact terminology or product #s, I dont do the paint/body stuff.
