I got it started and limped home. It was running so rich that it used about a quarter of a tank in about 4 miles and fouled the plugs. I get to tear the carb apart this week and see what went wrong.

Mark, I had a similar problem with my Chevelle a few years back. I found a hole in the front float. It had filled with gas and was leaving the needle valve open, flooding the bowl and sending WAY too much fuel to the engine.
Maybe something to look for when you get inside the carb.
